A 14-year-old girl's hand was drawn into the agricultural machine

During agricultural work in Sielc, the hand of a 14-year-old was pulled by a loader into the manure. The LPR helicopter was landing.

    A tragic event occurred5 August 2025 in the village of Sielec (gm. Wiślica, Świętokrzyskie). During work on the farm, a stationary loader to the manure pulled the hand of a 14-year-old boy. Fire brigades, paramedics and even a rescue helicopter arrived quickly. The boy was conscious, but required immediate surgical assistance. The hand of a 14-year-old boy who was stuck in a manure loader during agricultural work in Sielc, was recovered by firefighters using specialized tools. A saw for steel and concrete and hydraulic tools were used to release the hand.

    Accidents involving children and machines are unfortunately still the everyday life of the Polish village. Despite the decline in the number of accidents in agriculture in recent years (in 2024 9,930 events were reported –7.3% less than the previous year), agricultural machinery remains one of the main sources of serious injuries and tragedies.

    Recent legislation and good practices

    Since March 2024a new regulation governing health and safety on agricultural holdings is in force. The most important rules that each farmer should know:

    • agricultural machinery may be used by persons properly trained,
    • Children and adolescents should not operate machinery.
    • use personal protective equipment,
    • equipment must be tested for technical performance before use.
