Residents of Bielany warn of a new, exceptionally brazen car theft method in Warsaw. Unknown perpetrators dismantle hoods, bumpers, headlights and grilles from parked cars at night, leaving the vehicles literally “stripped bare” in housing estate car parks.
The case was reported today by the NEXTA Polska service on the X platform. According to residents, the thieves have a particular liking for cars that stand unused for several days. One of the victims returned after the weekend and found her Toyota in a dreadful state / the front of the car was completely stripped.
Photos circulating online show cars with engines fully exposed, without a hood, bumpers or lights.
How do the thieves operate?
Residents of Bielany are convinced that the culprits first watch the vehicles, then dismantle the most valuable and easiest-to-sell parts at night, working at high speed. The stolen components then end up on the black market or in illegal car workshops.
The comments under NEXTA’s post are harsh. Internet users point to “Eastern methods” and speculate that groups trading in car parts may be behind the scheme (suggestions include Georgian or Ukrainian crews, among others). One commenter wrote: “Georgian taxi mafias, Uber and Bolt, work fast. What is needed most? Bodywork elements from the front of vehicles and wheels with good tyres.”
Others add: “Typically Eastern methods” and “Let’s invite more nations to our country…”.
This is not the first such case in the capital, but the scale and audacity (dismantling cars right under apartment blocks) have alarmed the local community.
