The Government Security Centre (RCB) has issued an alert for residents of several voivodeships. Violent storms with heavy rain, strong wind gusts and, locally, hail are forecast overnight from Monday to Tuesday and on Tuesday, 9 June 2026.
Which voivodeships are at risk?
The RCB alert covers:
- mazowieckie
- małopolskie
- podkarpackie
- opolskie
- and part of the śląskie voivodeship (15 counties: będziński, bielski, Bielsko-Biała, bieruńsko-lędziński, cieszyński, Dąbrowa Górnicza, Jastrzębie-Zdrój, Jaworzno, Katowice, Mysłowice, pszczyński, Sosnowiec, Tychy, zawierciański and żywiecki)
What do meteorologists forecast?
The affected regions can expect storms with heavy rain (up to 30–40 mm) and strong wind gusts reaching 70–90 km/h. Hail may fall locally. The greatest risk occurs in the afternoon and evening hours on Tuesday.
RCB recommendations – what to do?
The Government Security Centre urges residents of the at-risk areas to exercise particular caution:
- Remove from windowsills, balconies and yards all objects that could be carried away by the wind.
- If your car is parked under trees, move it to a safe place.
- Close windows and doors.
- If possible, stay at home.
- Do not stop under trees or in open spaces.
- Prepare torches and spare batteries (risk of power outages).
- Take особую care when driving – watch out for broken branches and fallen trees.
The alert remains in force until cancelled. Services urge people to follow updates closely and not to underestimate the threats.
