A 57-year-old citizen of Ukraine, who illegally fished a huge, legendary sum out of Lake Balaton in Warsaw Gocław, was detained and then expelled from Poland.
The event took place in late May 2026. The man and others hired a water bike, caught a giant fish (about 173–183 cm long) which according to anglers lived in this tank for about 20 years, threw it alive in the trunk of the car and drove away.
Illegal fishing during a conservation period
The catch took place during the conservation period of the sum (lasting until 31 May), as well as from the use of a floating agent – which is prohibited. The behavior of the men outraged local anglers and residents, and the recordings of the event quickly ran media Social.
Police officers from the District Police Command Warsaw VII quickly identified the perpetrator. The 57-year-old was detained in Prague South. After the trial and administrative decision, the man was expelled from Poland.
