Construction of Missile Factory for Homar-K Launchers Begins in Gorzów

On Wednesday, 4 November, construction began in Gorzów Wielkopolski on a plant for Hanwha WB Advanced System, which is to produce guided CGR-080 missiles for the Homar-K launcher in Poland. Deputy Minister of National Defence Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka attended the ceremony.

The investor is Hanwha WB Advanced System, a joint venture of South Korean conglomerate Hanwha Aerospace and WB Electronics from the WB Group. According to a Ministry of National Defence (MON) statement, Deputy Minister Sobkowiak-Czarnecka represented Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz at the opening. The plant is to produce, among other things, missiles for the Homar-K launcher.

What will be built in Gorzów

The factory is to manufacture CGR-080 missiles with a 239 mm caliber and a range of approx. 80 km. The Homar-K launcher is the Polish variant of the South Korean K239 Chunmoo system. As Defence24 reports, citing a Hanwha Aerospace statement, this will be the first plant in Poland producing combat munitions of this class. According to MON, planned capacity is to reach several thousand missiles per year, and the agreement covers technology transfer, equipment for the production line and a licence.

Sources do not agree on the investment’s value. Money.pl and WNP.pl write of more than PLN 1 billion, while Hanwha, as reported by the Milmag portal, speaks of hundreds of millions of dollars.

Contract with the Armament Agency

The construction stems from the third executive contract under the Homar-K programme, which MON described on 29 December 2025. It was signed by the Armament Agency and a consortium led by Hanwha WB Advanced System, with Hanwha Aerospace as a member. Deliveries of Polish-made missiles are scheduled from 2030. The Portal Obronny and WNP.pl give the contract value as approx. PLN 14 billion gross.

Earlier, on 2 October 2024, WB Electronics and Hanwha Aerospace signed an agreement in Korea for the production of CGR-080 missiles in Poland. According to WNP.pl, the WB Group holds a 49 percent stake in the company, while Hanwha Aerospace holds the majority.

When production starts

Dates vary across sources. „Rzeczpospolita” writes of production from 2028. The company’s president, Jin Cheol Jeon, told Defence24 that full-scale production is to start in 2030. MON statements, meanwhile, indicate that deliveries to the army will begin in 2030.

What it means

For Gorzów, this is a major industrial investment. The company plans to employ, among others, mechanics, electricians, automation specialists, chemists, logistics staff and quality controllers. As „Polski Przemysł” reports, it has already signed a cooperation agreement with the city and the Centre for Vocational and Business Education. For the army, this is a capability Poland has not had until now: domestic production of guided tactical missiles, rather than imports from Korea alone. The number of employees has not been given by the company in the sources we reviewed.
