A nightmare with Kuri. Children trapped by their own mother and an adult woman pretending to be a child

The case of children with Kuři is a dramatic and shocking story of the abuse of two boys by their own mother, Klara Mauerova, in the small Czech town of Kuřim. Its tragic effects did not come to light until 2007, when a neighbor accidentally discovered through a nanny's electronic camera that a boy named Ondřej was kept naked and tied in a dark basement.

Terror behind closed doors

Klara Mauerova, born in 1979 in Czech Brno, got pregnant very early and had two sons, James and Ondřej. After parting with a partner who funded the family, the woman began studying pedagogy, and in 2005 adopted a 13-year-old girl, Anika, whose biological parents were addicts and who had previously been under the care of Clara's grandmother. After the adoption of Ana, the family situation began to deteriorate dramatically. Clara became increasingly isolated from her family and loved ones, and her behavior became extremely violent towards children.

Torture and rituals involving loved ones

According to the reports of boys and investigators, Clara brutally abused her sons for several years, using beatings, smoking, starving, and even prison in the basement for about six months.. One of the scariest moments was when 8-year-old Ondřej spent almost six months in the basement of his mother's house, without contact with the outside world. His mother withdrew him from school, explaining it with supposed deafness and began the so-called home science, which in fact consisted of isolation.

Children told that there were brutal rituals in the house, during which they were trained and treated like dogs, forced to eat from animal bowls, taken for walks on leashes. Elements of violence were also related to a mysterious sect or group of people who visited the house. Among them are Aunt Hanu Basova, a social worker and kindergarten, a family friend. As a result, children were tormented, burned with cigarettes, forks, watering in the bathtub, and shocking rituals in which the mother allegedly cut off Ondřej's buttock and the meat was used in a gruesome ritual.

The case that saved the boys' lives

The Kurim children's case came to light due to the vigilance of the neighbor, who, in 2007, by installing an electronic nanny, accidentally watched the image of the prisoner boy in the basement. Following this call, police began an investigation in which Clara and her sister Katerina were arrested, who was also involved in child abuse. Hana Basova was released due to lack of evidence.

Growing up in trauma

After her release from her home, the children were waiting for a difficult way to normal. Ondřej gradually began opening up to contacts with peers and psychologists, fascinated by simple things such as toothpaste or combs. The older brother James had much greater problems with his independence, but he could not take care of himself, even though he was at school age.

Anica. Stolen identity and unbelievable fraud

Anika is a character wrapped in mystery and mystery about the children of Kuři. Officially, she was to be a 13-year-old girl adopted by Clara Mauerova, In fact, however, Anka's story was more complicated and aroused many suspicions. After revealing the dramatic situation of children in Kurim, it turned out that "Anica" was actually an adult woman named Barbor Skrov, who under the disguise of a 13-year-old was adopted on the basis of falsified documents and DNA samples borrowed from another person. The court unwittingly agreed to adopt an adult, which was possible thanks to the manipulations of the persons involved, including Sister Clara, Katerina Mauerova, and Mediator Jakub Patocki, who handled the formalities. The search for Barbara Skrovej under this "alias" continues because after the arrest of the Kurim family the girl disappeared without a trace.
