The Bible Zoo in Jerusalem It is a unique zoo located in the southwest of Malha. Zoo occupies an area around 25 hectares and specializes in presenting Bible animals, or species listed in the Bible, although many other endangered species are now being bred. Animals live in natural conditions, in large open runs, and each Bible species is further described with references to biblical passages.
How did tragedy happen?
It all worked out in Friday morning, during a special trip "behind the scenes", organized for nature lovers. Zoo worker, 36-year-old head of the predator care team, guided a group of visitors, showing what daily work with wild animals looks like.
Senior animal guardian Uriel Nuri died after a leopard escaped from his homestead and attacked him during a backstage trip at the Bible Zoo in Jerusalem. The authorities are investigating the circumstances of this incident.
At one point, the leopard penetrated the inner courtyard where the worker was located. Suddenly he attacked a man, wounding him seriously. Despite immediate intervention and the resuscitation, the 36-year-old's life failed to be saved. He was transported to a hospital where he died of injuries..
