Services Check Report of Possible Assassination Plot Against Prime Minister and Defence Minister

Police have received information about a possible assassination attempt on Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. On Sunday, 11 October, at 11 a.m., representatives of the services gathered at the Counter-Terrorism Centre of the Internal Security Agency (ABW).

The information was announced on Sunday by the spokesman for the Minister-Coordinator of Special Services, Jacek Dobrzyński. According to his statement, Minister-Coordinator Tomasz Siemoniak and Minister of Interior and Administration Marcin Kierwiński ordered actions in connection with the information received by the police.

Meeting at the ABW Counter-Terrorism Centre

Dobrzyński announced that at 11 a.m. at the Counter-Terrorism Centre of the Internal Security Agency (ABW), ABW officers and representatives of services subordinate to the Ministry of Interior and Administration, namely the police and the State Protection Service (SOP), would hold a meeting. MSWiA spokeswoman Karolina Gałecka posted similar information on the platform X, as reported by “Rzeczpospolita”.

What Has Not Been Disclosed

The statements refer to a “possible assassination attempt”, not a confirmed threat or a planned attack. The content of the information, its source and any assessment of its credibility have not been provided. There is also no announcement of arrests or changes to the protection of either politician. As of publication, the outcome of the meeting has not been released.

Some media, citing findings by TVP Info, report that the services were sent an email warning of planned attacks. These reports do not come from state institutions and have not been officially confirmed.

Context

On the same day in the morning, Prime Minister Tusk met with ministers and the police chief at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister to discuss actions following acts of violence in schools. The statements do not indicate that the two matters are connected. The Prime Minister said then that he was not dealing with any large-scale organised group, and that reactions were often spontaneous and stemmed from online activity.

What It Means

At this stage, the services are verifying the signal. For readers, there are currently no recommendations or warnings, and no restrictions for citizens have been announced. Information on the outcome of the meeting and any further steps should appear in statements from the spokespeople for Siemoniak and the MSWiA.
