The Opole District Attorney's Office confirmed on Tuesday 24 March 2026 the results of a tox screen of 17-year-old Łukasz G., suspected of double killing with an axe and a hammer in the village of Kadłub.
Commissioned by forensics, it was clear that at the time of the crime at night from February 25 to February 26, 2026 The teenager was not under the influence of alcohol or any psychoactive substances – including drugs.
Test samples were taken immediately after the boy was detained, several hours after the tragedy.
A spokesman for the Opole District Attorney's Office, Stanisław Bar, informed the media: "The commissioned tox screen showed that at the time of the act the suspect was not drunk and was not influenced by psychoactive substances".
This result excludes one of the frequently considered hypotheses – that a violent attack may have been caused or aggravated by the effects of alcohol or drugs. Luke G. acted fully consciously and soberly.
At the same time, the D.A. recalls that the teenager fully confessed. During the local vision and earlier interrogations he described in detail the course of events – the order of killings, the use of tools and the moment of recording and publishing the material on the Internet. Still, the motive for the crime remains unclear. The boy repeats that "there have been certain events in his life" that have pushed him to do this (indicated among others on mobbing at work), however, investigators consider these explanations insufficient.
The prosecution has already ordered comprehensive psychiatric and psychological examinations. The team of experts will include a specialist in child psychiatry. The expert opinion will be crucial for assessing the soundness of Luke G. at the time of the act. If he is declared fully sane, he is facing a penalty of 15 to 30 years imprisonment – life is excluded due to incompleteness at the time of the crime.
