Claude Guillemot died, one of the five founding brothers of the French game giant Ubisoft. Co-creator of cult series Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry He died on Friday 19 June 2026 in a private plane crash in France. He was 69.
The tragedy occurred in the La Baule area (the Department of the Loara Atlantic) during the approach to landing at La Baule-Escoublac Airport. Eight-seat type machine Cessna 421 crashed in the field. In addition to Claude Guillemot, a flight instructor was also killed.

Ubisoft released an official statement in which he expressed deep sadness:
"Ubisoft found out with great sadness about Claude Guillemot's death, co-founder of the group and chairman of Guillemot Corp., as a result of the accident. Our thoughts are with his family and close at this difficult time."
Claude Guillemot and his brothers founded Ubisoft in 1986 in Brittany. Over time, the company became one of the largest game publishers in the world, responsible for, among others, series Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, Rainbow Six and Watch Dogs.
