Last night, HBO posted the first official trailer of the long-awaited series "Harry Potter". The film takes only two minutes, but it has already started a storm on the Internet – mainly by one detail, which everyone comments on.
The attention of the fans immediately catches Paapa Essiedu in the role of Severus Snape. A British black-skinned actor appears in a distinctive black robe, with long hair and this famous, cold look. Tabout the first time in the history of screening, when the Master of Elixirs is black – and it is this casting that evokes the most emotions.
The trailer begins classically: Little Harry in the closet under the Dursleys' stairs, meeting with Hagrid, first entrance to Hogwarts. There are also new, previously unknown shots – more scenes from mugol life and a much darker climate than in old cinema films. Season one will be an adaptation of the Philosopher's Stone.
The premiere of the series is planned precisely December 25, 2026 – Christmas on HBO and HBO Max. It's a real Christmas gift for fans.
In addition to "black Snape" in the cast we will see:

- Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley,
- Nick Frost as Hagrid,
- John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore,

Fans on the net are divided. Some write: "Snape finally looks dangerous and modern," others harshly criticize: "This is not the Snape we know from books." There are thousands of comments about the "forced diversity" and comparisons to controversial castings from recent years.
For now, HBO does not comment on the storm around the cast. The show has 7–8 episodes per book, so we have a long journey back to the world of wizards.
