How to read NBP courses? Practical Guide

The National Bank of Poland publishes two types of exchange rate tables that are worth distinguishing before visiting the cantore or before sending a transfer abroad. Table A contains average courses — is the reference value, used, inter alia, in tax and accounting settlements, but not directly in cantors. Table C includes bid and ask rates — the purchase rate is the price at which the bank or the currency exchanger buys the currency from the customer, while the sale rate is the price at which the customer buys the currency. In practice, this means that if you want to buy the euro before you go to Germany, you will pay a price close to the sales rate, and if you want to sell back the euro, you will receive an amount close to the purchase rate. — the difference between the two values is the so-called spread, which is the profit of a currency or bank.

Currency Trivia of the Day

The new Israeli Shekel (ILS) today recorded a rate of PLN 1.2029, making it one of the more pronounced growing currencies in the weekly list — still 8 April cost PLN 1.1822, which means an increase of over 1.75% in just a few working days. Shekel is a relatively young currency in its current form — was put into circulation in 1985 as a new Israeli shekel, replacing the previous shekel in the ratio of 1000 to 1, resulting from violent inflation at the time. Today, the Bank of Israel actively manages monetary policy, and the shekel rate is considered by analysts to be one of the mood barometers in emerging markets of the Middle East region.
