Pound sterling remains the most expensive of the major European currencies in terms of gold, remaining close to the level of PLN 4.88. For Poles working or travelling to the UK, this means that £100 is an expenditure of PLN 492 on purchase based on the sales rate. The spread between the purchase and sale rate today is nearly 9.7 cents.

Patrząc na ostatni tydzień, złoty wykazał umiarkowaną tendencję do umacniania się wobec większości głównych walut — najwyraźniej widać to w przypadku dolara amerykańskiego, który stracił wobec złotego niemal 1,4%. Euro, funt i frank również oddały część wartości, choć w mniejszym stopniu. Wyjątkiem jest korona norweska, która zanotowała nieznaczny wzrost. Ogólny obraz wskazuje na stabilizację polskiej waluty po wcześniejszych ruchach, a złoty zachowuje się spokojnie na tle walut europejskich i transatlantyckich.

Narodowy Bank Polski publikuje dwa rodzaje tabel kursowych, które warto rozróżnić przed wizytą w kantorze lub przed wysłaniem przelewu za granicę. Tabela A zawiera kursy średnie — to wartość referencyjna, stosowana m.in. w rozliczeniach podatkowych i księgowych, ale nie bezpośrednio w kantorach. Tabela C zawiera kursy kupna (bid) i sprzedaży (ask) — kurs kupna to cena, po której bank lub kantor skupuje walutę od klienta, natomiast kurs sprzedaży to cena, po której klient kupuje walutę. W praktyce oznacza to, że jeśli chcesz kupić euro przed wyjazdem do Niemiec, zapłacisz cenę zbliżoną do kursu sprzedaży, a jeśli chcesz sprzedać przywiezione z powrotem euro, otrzymasz kwotę zbliżoną do kursu kupna — różnica między tymi dwoma wartościami to tzw. spread, który stanowi zarobek kantoru lub banku.
