What is WIBOR? Short explanation
WIBOR is simply the average interest rate in which Polish banks lend to themselves money. Akronim comes from English: Warsaw Interbank Offered Rate, i.e. "a bet offered on the Warsaw interbank market". What does that mean in practice? Simply – banks determine among themselves how much they will borrow money for different periods (one day, month, three months, etc.). From this information the average that becomes WIBOR is calculated. Then banks use this rate as a starting point to determine how much they will charge you for credit. It's a "base course" where they start negotiating.
