How to read NBP courses? Practical Guide
The NBP courses are divided into two types of tables: Table A with medium courses and Table C with purchase and sales rates. The average rate is the reference value — it is used, among other things, by tax offices, banks to value liabilities and companies for accounting accounts, but it is not the rate at which you buy currency in the canto. If you are going to the exchange office or foreign transfer, the purchase rate and the sale rate count — the purchase rate is the price at which a currency or bank buys a currency from you, and the sale rate is the price at which you can buy that currency. The difference between these two values, called spread, is the profit of a financial institution, which is why it is always worth comparing offers of several cantors before exchanging a larger sum.

Currency Trivia of the Day
The new Israeli Shekel (ILS) is a currency with an interesting history — It took its current form in 1986, replacing the old shekel as part of a currency reform aimed at combating hyperinflation, which at the time amounted to hundreds of percent per year. Today, the rate of the shekel against the gold is PLN 1,2013, which ranks it in a group of currencies with a clearly higher value than many Asian or Latin American currencies listed in the same NBP table. Shekel is also one of the few currencies in the world that retains in its name a direct reference to the ancient weighing unit used thousands of years ago in the Middle East.
