The euro rate remains at a moderate level today, slightly below the values observed at the turn of March and April, when the euro reached as much as PLN 4.2894. Swedish krona (SEK)

The Swedish krona slightly increased towards the gold, which means a minimal weakening of PLN on this currency pair.

Looking at the past week from the perspective of Polish gold, the dominant trend was its strengthening — particularly clear against the US dollar, which lost more than two percent of its value compared to PLN. Euros, pound and franc have also slightly sunk, which consists of a general picture of reinforced gold. The exception to this rule was both Scandinavian crowns, against which the gold slightly donated part of the area, although the scale of these changes is marginal.

Exchange rates are derived from the official NBP table and shall apply from the date of publication until the following working day.

How to read NBP courses? Practical Guide

Table A of the NBP contains average courses that are the reference point for multiple settlements, but are not the rates at which you actually buy or sell currency. Table C is transaction rates — the bid rate means how much the bank or currency will pay you for your currency when you sell it, and the ask rate is the price you pay when you buy the currency. In practice, if you are going to the currency exchange exchange for euro before you go to Italy, you are interested in the sale rate — The shorter, the better for your wallet. The difference between the purchase and sale rate, called spread, is the profit of a currency or bank on a transaction — in the case of popular currencies such as Euros or Dollars, it is usually between a few and a dozen cents.

Currency Trivia of the Day

Yuan renminbi, or Chinese currency marked CNY code, is today valued by the NBP at PLN 0.5344, which means that for one gold we will get just over 1.87 yuan. China has been trying to expand its currency internationally for years — it is admitted to the reserve currency basket of the International Monetary Fund, alongside the dollar, the euro, the pound and the yen. Nevertheless, yuan remains a currency with limited freedom of exchange and its rate is shaped with the active participation of the Chinese central bank, which makes it fundamentalally different from the currencies of countries with fully liberal financial markets.
