May 3, 2026 is a Sunday, but it is not a commercial Sunday — Today, large-area shops are closed. This is a double special day, because May 3 is at the same time Constitution Day 3 May, which is a public holiday. This means that the trade ban applies today for two reasons at once. Check below when is the next Sunday of the trade in 2026 and plan your shopping in advance.
Is May 3 a commercial Sunday?
Is today a trade Sunday?
NO — May 3, 2026 is not a commercial Sunday. Moreover, it is a public holiday — Constitution Day 3 May — so the shops are closed regardless of the trade ban on Sunday. The ban on trade on Sunday means that most shops, including hypermarkets, supermarkets, discounts and shopping malls, must remain closed. Despite the ban each Sunday, however, there are gas stations, pharmacies, shops at railway and air stations, as well as some bakeries and shops run directly by the owner. Today, due to the state holiday, it is worth to make sure even about these exceptions — some of them may operate in limited hours or be closed.

Trade ban on Sunday – what is worth knowing?
The ban on trade on Sunday has been in force in Poland since March 2018 and for years has been gradually tightened, up to the present form, in which shops open on Sunday is an exception, not a rule. Each calendar year the provisions provide for a certain number of commercial Sundays — in 2026 there are exactly 10 of them and are spread throughout the year, with the largest density in December. Among other things, fuel stations, pharmacies, shops at airports and stations, bakeries, florists, souvenir shops and establishments run in person by the owner without the participation of employees. Online shops operate without limitation — you can order online every day, but delivery may be delayed due to closed warehouses or limited courier work.
