The number of deported foreigners is 320% higher than in 2022, the Ministry of Interior and Administration (MSWiA) said in a post on X on Saturday, 7 November. The ministry announces further checks on the legality of residence and employment.
What the Ministry of Interior Said
The ministry published a post summarizing actions against foreigners who violate Polish law. According to the ministry, the government has „put migration policy back on the right track,” and today security and effective enforcement of the law are the top priorities.
MSWiA points out that in 2022 deportations were carried out „on a negligible scale,” while today their number is 320% higher.
Residence and Work Checks
The ministry stresses that Border Guard officers work every day to ensure that foreigners comply with decisions to leave the country. The presence and status of foreigners are also regularly checked, both at their places of residence and at their workplaces.
The post did not provide absolute figures or the period that was compared with 2022.
Earlier Ministry Data
The ministry had already reported on the scale of deportations. In a communication on migration policy in the spring, the ministry said that in the first quarter of 2022, about 900 return decisions were carried out, and in the first quarter of 2026 – 2.7 thousand, which it described as an increase of nearly 200%.
Deputy Minister Czesław Mroczek said that in 2022, 7,637 decisions obliging foreigners to return were issued and 3.8 thousand were carried out, while in 2025 there were 14.7 thousand decisions and 9.5 thousand carried out. According to him, this means 150% more effective returns, or 2.5 times as many as in 2022.
Deputy Head of MSWiA Maciej Duszczyk linked the increase, among other things, to agreements with countries accepting deported persons and to greater activity by the services. The most common reason remains lack of residence documents or exceeding the permitted length of stay in the Schengen area.
Policy toward foreigners also involves changes in the law – we wrote about the draft introducing an exam for citizenship applicants in an article on changes to the citizenship act.
