The limit of 100 ml of liquids in the hand luggage at Kraków Airport is no longer valid – you can take the bottles up to 2 liters and the control is 30 percent faster.
Revolution at Kraków Airport – end of limits
Kraków Airport is the first airport in Poland to lift a restrictive limit of 100 ml of liquids in hand luggage thanks to the implementation of modern CT scanners. This change makes travel more comfortable, faster controls are carried out and no longer has to worry about transferring cosmetics or beverages to miniature packaging.
How does new technology work?
CT scanners for passenger service
The new generation of CT scanners uses computer tomography to create detailed 3D images of baggage content. This enables the service to analyze its contents more quickly and efficiently, detecting dangerous objects without the need to remove electronics or fluids.
- Liquids can be transported in packs of up to 2 litres (e.g. water, cosmetics, perfume).
- You don't need to remove your laptop, phone or cosmetics during the inspection.
- The control time of one person has decreased by as much as 30 percent – even at the top of the traffic does not usually exceed 10 minutes.
What does this change mean for travellers?
For Kraków Airport passengers, the journey will become more comfortable and less stressful. The restrictions so far have provoked frustration, especially when packing for holidays or short city breaks. Now, even on hot days, you can freely take your favorite drink, without tedious pouring it into small containers.
Example: Buying water before safety control, you do not have to throw it away or spill it – just put the bottle in the suitcase and go through the briefing.
When and where are the new regulations?
The changes came into force from September 3, 2025 and concern all control points equipped with CT scanners. On Kraków Airport there are three positions with older equipment – there is still a limit, but they are only used in emergency situations.
Does the abolition of limits apply in two ways?
It is worth remembering that regulations abolishing the limit of 100 ml of liquids at Kraków Airport only concern departures from Krakow– on the way back the situation depends on the airport in the country from which you return. If the destination port (e.g. foreign port) does not yet use modern CT scanners, there are old rules and the limit is still 100 ml per package. For your own convenience, it is worth checking the current regulations in force at the airport before the return trip –For example, in many EU countries, implementation of new standards is still ongoing and not everywhere can be expected to be the same freedom to carry liquids as in Krakow.
Where are the limits not applicable in Europe?
Below is a list of airports in Europe, where modern CT scanners have been implemented and the limit of 100 ml of liquids in hand luggage has been abolished – liquids can be carried up to 2 litres:
Airports without fluid limit
- Kraków Airport (Poland) – the first airport in Poland with full implementation of the system
- Poznań Ławica (Poland) – installation of equipment completed, liquid limit lifted
- Berlin Brandenburg (Germany) – selected positions with new technology
- Amsterdam Schiphol (Netherlands) – gradually implemented in part of terminals
- Milan (Italy): Linate, Malpensa T1 – full support of new rules
- Rome Fiumicino (Italy) – all terminals without limit
- Bologna (Italy) – implementation completed
- Turin (Italy) — Fast Track without a fluid limit
- Birmingham (UK) – abolished limit since July 2025
- Edinburgh (UK) – abolished limit since July 2025
Airports planning to lift limits
- Warsaw Chopin (Poland) – implementation planned by the end of 2025
- London City and Gatwick (UK) – test phase system
It is worth checking the current situation before the journey – not all airports have already implemented new rules at all control posts.
Kraków Airport sets a new standard of travel – this is a real revolution for all passengers, which shows how technology can simplify everyday affairs and make travel just more enjoyable.
