A serious accident occurred in the Green Mountain Park amusement park in Taif, located in southwest Saudi Arabia. On Wednesday, July 30, 2025, one of the shuttle-type carousels, known as "360 degrees", suddenly collapsed and disintegrated into two parts during the ongoing ride.
What happened to the carousel?
The central pole of the carousel broke, and the whole structure with momentum collapsed to the ground from several meters high. As a result of this event23 peoplewere injured, including at least three serious injuries and were incritical condition.
The available video shows a sudden crack and bang, followed by the screams of terrified witnesses and passengers. One of the detached parts of the carousel struck both those on the ride and those in the vicinity. Rescue and cleaning services quickly appeared at the scene of the accident, provided first aid to victims and transported them to nearby hospitals.
Local authorities, including the Governor of the Taif Region, decided totemporary closure of the amusement parkFor the investigation. The investigation aims to determine the exact cause of the accident. Preliminary unofficial information indicates the possibility of using construction materials or of failure of the key component of the carrier carousel. It is also checked that the device had current technical inspections and that there were no negligence on the part of the park.
This accident is one of the major incidents in amusement parks in recent months, reminiscent of similar tragedies in other countries where accidents have led to severe injuries and deaths of participants.
