How to read NBP courses? Practical Guide

The NBP rates are published in three tables — for the average user the most important are the table A with average rates and Table C with purchase and sales rates. Table A average rate is the reference value used, among others, for accounting and tax purposes — It's not a rate where you buy a currency in a canto or a bank. The bid rate is the price at which a bank or a currency buys a currency from a customer — In other words, that's what you get when you sell your own euros or dollars. The sales rate (ask) is the price at which the financial institution sells currency to the customer — that's what you'll pay by buying currency before you go abroad or making international transfers. The difference between the purchase and sales rate, called spread, is the profit of the intermediary — The smaller the spread, the more favorable the offer.

Currency Trivia of the Day
