How to read NBP courses? Practical Guide
The NBP publishes two types of exchange rate tables that differ in application. Table A average rate is the official official reference point — used, among other things, for tax settlements, asset valuation and transaction conversion in companies. Table C buying and selling rates are the rates at which the NBP buys or sells the currencies itself, and they set a market benchmark for exchangers and banks — The purchase rate is the price at which the bank buys the currency from you and the sale rate is the price at which it sells it to you. For a person going to the exchange office to exchange gold for euro before holidays is a key selling rate — the lower, the more favourable, it is therefore worth comparing it with the NBP table as a reference point. Spread, i.e. the difference between the purchase and sale rate, is in practice the commission of a financial institution hidden in the course — the smaller the spread, the more favourable the customer offers the exchange.

Currency Trivia of the Day
Yuan renminbi, whose exchange rate is PLN 0.5284 today, is the currency of a country with the world's largest population and second largest economy, yet for long decades it has been strictly controlled by the Chinese central bank and not freely available on international markets. China is gradually opening up the financial market and allowing for wider international yuan settlements, which makes this currency increasingly appear in central bank reserve portfolios worldwide. Watching the Chinese yuan course can be an interesting indicator for anyone who follows global changes in the economic power system.
