How to read NBP courses? Practical Guide

Average rate (mid) is the theoretical value of currency — It's like the NBP says, but you don't actually get it. The purchase rate is the price the currency will pay you for your foreign currency — It's always lower than the average, because it's the cantor's income. Sales rate is the price you pay for foreign currency — always higher than average. The difference between buying and selling is the cantor margin. Example: if the euro is noted for buying 4,2035 PLN and selling 4,2885 PLN, then for 100 EUR you will get 420,35 PLN and for buying 100 EUR you will pay 428,85 PLN. This difference is normal and fully justified by the costs of running the exchange office.
