The exchange rates on 29 April 2026 reflect a clear weakening of the Polish currency against the world's most important couples, which is seen above all in the American and British currency quotations. According to the official National Bank of Poland table 082/A/NBP/2026, the euro rate today is PLN 4.2537, and the US dollar rate has climbed to PLN 3.6356. Against the background of other currencies, attention is drawn to the significant weekly increase in the Norwegian crown rate, which has increased by nearly a penny since last Tuesday, which may be important for Poles planning to go to Scandinavia. We invite you to read a detailed list of all NBP exchange rates and the analysis of trends from last week.
Exchange rates NBP – April 29, 2026
Key exchange rates today
Euro (EUR)
Average rate NBP: PLN 4,2537
Purchase rate: 4,2031 PLN | Sales rate: PLN 4,2881
The euro rate today exceeded the PLN 4.25 threshold, which ranks the single currency at a clearly high level in recent weeks. For those planning holidays in euro area countries, this means a higher exchange cost – for 1000 euro in the cantore, at a sales rate close to PLN 4.29, we will pay about PLN 4290. It is worth following the NBP courses regularly, because possible fluctuations of even a few cents at larger amounts translate into noticeable differences in the home budget.
US Dollar (USD)
Average rate NBP: PLN 3,6356
Purchase rate: PLN 3,5932 | Sales rate: PLN 3,6658
The US currency recorded a clear jump over the last week, exceeding PLN 3.63. This is one of the highest dollar rates recorded in April 2026. Those who purchase online on foreign platforms or pay subscriptions in dollars should take into account that the actual cost of the transaction will be closer to the sales rate, which is almost PLN 3.67 today.
Pound sterling (GBP)
Average rate NBP: PLN 4,9076
Purchase rate: PLN 4,8493 | Sales rate: PLN 4,9473
The pound sterling approached the PLN 4.91, making it the most expensive of the major currencies in today's ranking. Going to the British Isles or transferring money to a family in Britain today requires a deeper look into the wallet than before a week ago. The pound rate persists in the growth trend, and the spread between buying and selling is close to 10 grosz.
Swiss franc (CHF)
Average rate NBP: PLN 4,6041
Purchase rate: PLN 4,5477 | Sales rate: PLN 4,6395
Swiss franc as the only major currency today shows a minimum downward adjustment on a weekly basis, remaining around PLN 4.60. This is still a high historical level, particularly important for people who pay currency loans in francs – the loan instalment at this NBP rate remains a significant burden. The difference between the purchase and sale rate is less than 10 grosz, which gives a relatively narrow spread.
How did the exchange rates change last week?
On the basis of the NBP's historical data from the last seven working days, we have traced the changes in the exchange rates of the most important currencies. Below is a detailed list for euro, dollar, pound, franc and Scandinavian and Czech crowns.

Course today: 0,1745 PLN | Course 7 days ago: 0,1742 PLN | Amendment: PLN +0.0003 (0.17%)
The Czech currency remains virtually unchanged, oscillating to a minimum the fluctuations typical of this market.
Norwegian krone (NOK)
Course today: PLN 0.3906 | Course 7 days ago: 0.3850 PLN | Change: +0.0056 PLN (1.45%)
The Norwegian crown recorded the largest percentage increase among all the currencies analysed – this is a clear signal for Poles leaving for Norway.
Swedish krona (SEK)
Course today: PLN 0.3922 | Course 7 days ago: 0,3929 PLN | Change: -0.0007 PLN (-0.18%)
The Swedish crown slightly sank, which is a minor but favorable information for people travelling to Sweden.
In the analysis of the above changes, it can be concluded that the gold in the last week clearly lost value against the dollar, the pound and the Norwegian krona, while stabilising against the euro and the Swiss franc. The biggest weakening of the Polish currency concerns the Norwegian krona, which can be the result of the rise in oil prices and the strengthening of Scandinavian currencies in international markets. In the coming days, macroeconomic data and moods on global markets will be crucial for NBP courses – careful monitoring of tables published by the National Bank of Poland will allow to monitor these changes on an ongoing basis.
Exchange rates are derived from the official NBP table and shall apply from the date of publication until the following working day.
How to read NBP courses? Practical Guide
Table A of the NBP contains average rates which represent the indicative value of a given currency calculated on the basis of market quotations – but this is not the price at which we will actually buy or sell currency in the canto. It is much more practical to find Table C, where we will find a bid, a price at which a bank or a currency will buy a currency from us, and a sales rate (ask), a price at which we will acquire a currency. The difference between these values is the currency spread, which is the margin of the financial institution – therefore, when planning the exchange, always look at the exchange rate if you want to purchase foreign currency and the purchase rate if you want to resell it. Remember that private cantors set their own prices, but NBP courses are an important benchmark for them – the closer to official values, the more favourable the offer to the customer.

Currency Trivia of the Day
Have you ever wondered why some currencies are so cheap in terms of gold that you can get thousands of foreign units for one Polish coin? The record holder in today's NBP course table is Indonesian rupee, whose course is only PLN 0.0002104 – this means that for one gold we would receive about 4753 rupees. Such a huge difference stems from the historical denomination and monetary policy of Indonesia, which never carried out a radical monetary reform after the 1997 Asian crisis. In everyday life, Indonesians use banknotes with denominations reaching Rs.100,000, which, at today's NBP course, corresponds to about PLN 21 – a completely different scale than the one we used to in Europe.
