The inauguration of the new President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, brought an unexpected accent in Polish-American relations. Donald Trump, President of the United States, did not limit himself to traditional congratulations – surprised Nawrock with an unusual gift.
An unusual gift from Donald Trump
In political everyday life, gifts between heads of state are rare. Congratulations and official letters usually dominate. This time Trump decided to take a step beyond diplomatic protocol – he sent Charles Nawrock a copy of the sculptureAmerican eagle.
"This is an expression of direct, good relations between presidents; a gesture symbolising hope for a new chapter in cooperation" — stressed Marcin Przycz from the President's office.
Eagle symbolism – bridge between nations
The eagle, which is both the emblem of the USA and Poland, is of deep importance in the traditions of both countries. American version – white eagle – symbolizescourage and independence, while Poland is associated with freedom and history of statehood.
Polish-American relations at a new stage
Trump did not limit himself to sending the sculpture. At the inauguration of President Nawrocki, she also flew to Warsawdelegation from the USA. Such activity from the American administration indicates that the White House focuses on building personal, trust-based ties with the Polish leader.
Trump was supposed to say at a campaign meeting at the White House:"You will win!"— What Nawrocki perceived as not only a courtesy, but also a support signal.
