The upcoming 2025 presidential election is the most important political event of May. Emotions are growing, and recent polls indicate that we are facing an extremely leveled struggle for the highest office in the state.
In two weeks Poland will elect the President. The polls leave no illusions – neither side can be certain of victory, and the second round seems to be doomed. What does this mean for the political scene?
When will the 2025 presidential election take place?
The first round of the presidential election will be held on Sunday 18 May 2025. Election venues will be open from 7:00 to 9:00. If none of the candidates receive more than 50% of the vote, the second round is scheduled for June 1.
The latest polls – who leads?
According to the latest public research, the best chances of entering the second round are:
- Rafał Trzaskowski – candidate of the ruling majority, Vice-President of the Civic Platform
- Karol Nawrocki – citizen candidate, supported by the largest opposition party
None of the candidates currently exceed the 50% threshold, which means we're in for overtime.
Political tensions and social expectations
Many commentators emphasize that these elections can turn the Polish political agenda upside down. There are voices of possible accelerated parliamentary elections if a person outside the current ruling coalition becomes president.
Why are these elections so important?
The presidential election of 2025 is not only a clash of personalities, but also directions of Poland's development for subsequent years. The outcome may affect political stability, relations with the European Union and the future of major reforms. Today, it is worth following the polls and preparing for a conscious choice at the urn.
Everything indicates that emotions will grow every day, and the final result will be decided only in the second round.
