Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced today that the new government spokesman would be Adam Szpiek. Officially, his work will begin on July 1, 2025.
Government changes form of communication
Until now, since the beginning of the government's work on December 13, 2023, there has been no Ombudsman's government. Calling him is a good signal that the government wants to bet on communication that will break through information noise and reach more citizens.
Who is the new government spokesman Adam Trapka?
Adam Sz Trapka has thus far served as Minister for European Union Affairs in the Donald Tusk Government. He has been present in the Sejm for years, known for his high election results and wide electorate. In the final elections to the parliament, he scored the third biggest score in the country just behind Donald Tuski and Jarosław Kaczyński.
Adam Sztrapka declares that it will be available to the media around the clock, and his main goal is to reach ordinary citizens, not just journalists.
A new opening and an end to divisions?
Will the new government spokesperson in Poland reduce the polarization of the society and reach voters who did not vote for the current ruling coalition?
Unfortunately, we do not know yet, we know for sure that on the X portal (formerly twitter), the current government spokesperson banned quite a large number of users, which would rather prevent him from communicating freely. Squeezing in an information bubble where other users are blocked for different views is wrong and can lead to a renaissance of the current situation in the longer term, as is the case with such people as Roman Gierty and Anna Maria Żukowska. They have thousands of blocked users on their list, so they see only comments and messages favorable to them, not necessarily those that have anything to do with the truth.

Contact with right-wing television
It is also unknown for now whether Adam Szpiek will break out of the collusion of the ruling coalition regarding not talking to private right-wing television Republic and Poland24. So far, the government has greatly oppressed these televisions, not allowing Members to go to interviews and not letting journalists from these media into press conferences.
We are counting on the new government spokesperson to change this approach and show everyone that freedom of speech is important beyond political divisions and disputes.
