The ban on trade on Sunday has been in force in Poland since March 2018 and has been gradually tightened for years. Today most Sundays in the year are days when large shops, hypermarkets, discounts and shopping malls remain closed. However, the Act provides for exceptions — Among other things, fuel stations, pharmacies, airport shops, railway and bus stations, as well as bakeries and shops run by the owner personally without hiring employees are exempted.
