This is one of the many incidents reported that day. According to local medical sources, on Monday, Israeli forces killed at least four Palestinians in various parts of the Zone as a result of air strikes and shelling.

Who was Mohammad Al-Habeel?

Mohammad Al-Habeel worked as an orderly at one of the most important hospitals in Gaza – Al-Shifa. In a permanent humanitarian crisis (water shortages, electricity, medicines and destroyed infrastructure) medical personnel have been on the front line for years, often risking their lives. His death is another blow to the still-destroyed health care system in the enclave.

Context of the conflict

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict in Gaza, which broke out with full force after the Hamas attack of 7 October 2023, brought huge losses on both sides. According to data from the Ministry of Health of Gaza (controlled by Hamas), more than 73 000 Palestinians, including thousands of children, have died since the start of the fighting. Israel questions these figures, indicating that they also include Hamas militants and Islamic Jihad, and stresses that it operates in a densely populated area where Hamas consciously uses civilian infrastructure (hospitals, schools, residential homes) for military purposes.

Despite the U.S.-medied truce announced in October 2025, there are repeated incidents, shellings and operations of Israeli forces. The Palestinian side accuses Israel of constantly violating ceasefires and attacks on civilians. Israel in turn points to threats from Hamas and other terrorist groups.

Human Face of War

Zeina's history is not a statistic – it is a picture of the enormous suffering of children who lose their loved ones in this conflict. Recordings with crying children, mothers and fathers appear regularly on both sides and become a powerful tool in the information war. The world responds: humanitarian organizations (UN, Red Cross, MSF) alert the crisis, protests take place, but a breakthrough in peace negotiations remains distant.

The Al-Habeel family joined tens of thousands of families in Gaza whose lives were irreparably broken. At such moments political narratives go to the background – there remains pain, mourning and the question about the future of a generation that knows mainly the war.

Peace for Zeina and all the children who should have fun, not mourn their parents.
