Massana Dolna / Massana Upper, June 16, 2026 – Monday evening (15 June) in the municipality of Mszana Dolna there was a dramatic killing of a 19-year-old woman. The victim is a municipality resident who was attacked with a knife by her former partner – 19-year-old Kacpra Wójtowicz.
The incident took about an hour 22:20. According to police records, a man was in hiding near his ex-girlfriend's residence. When a 19-year-old came back from work and got out of the car, there was a quarrel between them, during which Kacper Wójtowicz attacked her with a knife, inflicting numerous blows. Despite immediate rescue and resuscitation by witnesses and medical services, the lives of a young woman failed. She died instantly.
Limanowa County Police immediately launched a large-scale manhunt. Published image and personal data of the wanted, involved large police forces (criminal, prevention, dog guides, search groups, drones and helicopter). Roadblocks were set up in the region and intensive searches were carried out.
The Tragic Final
On Tuesday morning (June 16), the search ended with the discovery of a 19-year-old body in a forest in the municipality of Mszana Dolna. All indications are that Casper Wójtowicz committed suicide. Trials and autopsy are underway to confirm the final circumstances.
Local community reactions
The case shook the residents of Massana Dolna and surrounding areas. They're very young people, they were both only 19 years old. Police and the D.A. are investigating a murder with a dangerous weapon. At this stage, no recitals or details concerning the previous pair relationship were disclosed.
This is another tragedy against the background of toxic relations and domestic/partner violence in Poland. In such cases, police call for those experiencing violence or threats from former partners not to underestimate the signals and report them on time.
The family and relatives of the victim were in great mourning. My condolences to all affected by this tragedy.
