Israeli national security minister Itamar Ben-Gvir announced the construction of a special facility where death sentences are to be executed by hanging against persons convicted of acts of terrorism. The film presented by him shows a wooden-metal structure under a blue tarp, located on the premises of a prison wing intended for convicts in central Israel.

Ben-Gvir podkreślił, że realizuje wcześniejsze obietnice: zaostrzenie warunków dla więźniów uznanych za terrorystów, uchwalenie ustawy o karze śmierci oraz stworzenie miejsca do jej wykonywania. „Tworzymy historię. Nasi terroryści zasługują tylko na jedno – śmierć przez powieszenie” – oświadczył.
According to the official message, the facility will include observation cabins (also called boots or viewing chambers), of which the families of the victims of the bombers will be allowed to watch executions. Ben-Gvir justified this practice in some countries, including the United States, and announced the issue of special permits for close victims. Some media coverage and critical comments describe these cabins as part of the show, although the official version restricts access to families affected.

The death penalty bill for terrorists was adopted by the Israeli government in March 2026 by a majority of 62 to 48 votes. It foresees hanging as a default form of punishment for persons convicted by military courts in the West Bank as deadly attacks considered terrorist. The sentence is to be executed within 90 days of the finalisation, without the possibility of pardon. Critics indicate that regulation in practice mainly concerns Palestinians (military courts), while Israeli citizens are accountable to civil courts. The bill is challenged to the Supreme Court of Israel and the hearing is scheduled to take place in 2027.
Ben-Gvir has long lobbied for tightening security policy against prisoners. He previously nominated family members of victims of terrorism to oversee the implementation of the Act. His presentation of the facility coincided with the campaign before the election and sparked mixed reactions: supporters consider it to be a fulfillment of promises and a deterrent element, opponents – including human rights organisations and some Israeli commentators – regard it as an element of revenge and detrimental to Israel's image.
