The fight for the electorate began: How do Karol Nawrocki and Rafał Trzaskowski want to convince voters of other candidates?

Druga tura wyborów prezydenckich w Polsce zapowiada się niezwykle emocjonująco. Karol Nawrocki i Rafał Trzaskowski muszą teraz walczyć o głosy wyborców, którzy w pierwszej turze poparli innych kandydatów. Jakie strategie wybiorą, by zdobyć decydujące poparcie?

Playing for the electorate – the key challenge of the second round

The results of the first round clearly showed that the victory would be decided by voters who voted for candidates outside the Trzaskowski–Nawrocki duo. Trzaskowski scored 31.36%, Nawrocki 29.54%, and as many as 21.15% of voters chose: Sławomir Mentzen and Grzegorz Braun. It is their decisions that can determine the outcome of the second round.

What strategies will the candidates adopt?

Rafał Trzaskowski: opening to the centre and young people

Trzaskowski, a centre and pro-European candidate, has already announced an intense fight for the voices of young and moderate and left-wing voters. He emphasizes that he wants to convince Poles to "normal Poland, not radical Poland". Its strategy includes:

  • Direct meetings with voters in cities and smaller towns.
  • Emphasis on civil rights, tolerance and European cooperation.
  • Looking for a common language with the voters of the Third Way and Left, whose support may be crucial.

Trzaskowski also tries to build a bridge to moderate right-wing voters, stressing the importance of stability and predictability in foreign and economic policy.

Karol Nawrocki: bow to the Conservatives and the Confederate electorate

Nawrocks, supported by the Law and Justice, must convince voters of national and freedom views, especially young people who have supported Mentzen in large numbers. His strategy is:

  • Emphasis on traditional values, family and national security.
  • Emphasis on social policy, but with a simultaneous attempt to reach voters disappointed in the establishment.
  • Direct meetings and presence on social media, where young voters are particularly active.

Nawrocki also tries to convince voters that it is an alternative to the "old arrangement" and a guarantor of the continuation of the social policy of the Law and Justice, while opening up to the Confederate's freedom demands.

Key groups to get

Key electoral groups in the second round

Voter groupImpact potentialWhich candidate has the advantage?
Confederate votersVery highNawrocki's slight advantage
Third Way VotersHighPotentially Trzaskowski
Left votersHighTrezaskovsky's clear advantage
Young (18-29 years)Very highUndecided, key group

Is the vote transfer obvious?

Experts stress that it is not possible to assume the automatic flow of votes – some voters can stay home or vote invalid. Especially the Confederate electorate is unpredictable: some of them can support Nawrocki due to conservatism, others will reject both candidates as "systemic".

They decide their last days.

The last days of the campaign will be a fight for every vote. Candidates must not only convince the indecisive, but also mobilize their supporters to participate in elections. It is the ability to reach the voters of other candidates that can decide who will become the new President of Poland.

The second round is not only a duel of two names, but a clash of Poland's vision – and a test whether candidates can go beyond their own electoral bubble.
