The government has just put forward concrete proposals for changes to the tax system, which are expected to apply from 2027. Password #MoreWPortfoli is not another empty promise – it is a real correction of the PIT scale, responding to the increase in salaries of Poles in recent years. No one else will save citizens as much as a state that decides on the rules of the tax game.
New tax scale – three thresholds instead of two
Currently the second tax threshold (32%) starts with 120 thousand PLN of income per year. After the changes:
- up to 130 thousand PLN per year will be the rate of 12%,
- from 130 thousand to 150 thousand PLN, a new intermediate rate of 24 percent will appear,
- Only over PLN 150 thousand will the taxpayer enter the rate of 32 percent.
As a result, much fewer people will automatically jump to the highest rate. The government estimates that the percentage of taxpayers paying 32 percent will fall to about 7.2 percent (up to 14 percent previously expected).
More than 3.5 million taxpayers – especially workers – will benefit from the changes. The biggest benefits can reach up to PLN 3600 per year. It's real money that stays in the wallets, not in the state budget.
Why now?
The wages are rising. More and more people earn over PLN 120 thousand a year and automatically fall into a higher threshold. The old scale stopped being fair. The new design better adapts the load to the actual revenue and makes the work more profitable.

Responsible public finances – who will pay more?
To maintain budgetary balance, the government proposes at the same time:
- increasing the CIT rate from 19 to 22 percent for companies with revenues above EUR 50 million and for tax capital groups,
- increase the solidarity tax to 5% (from 4%) on income above PLN 1 million,
- restoring the limit of the flat-rate revenue of EUR 250 000.
The biggest companies and the highest income earners will bear most of the burden. It is an element of a fair system – lower taxes for the majority of workers, higher burdens for those who earn the most.
What does this mean in practice?
For the average employee who is now balancing at the border of the second threshold, the difference will be felt in 2027. Less tax means more money for daily spending, savings or investment. For the household budget 2000–3600 PLN per year is a specific relief.
The slogan "No one will give you more than the government promises" takes on real meaning in this context. Other parties can promise, but only the government has the tools to change the tax scale and leave more in their wallets. #MoreWPortfoli shows that these tools are likely to be used. It is worth noting that such a move by the government is clearly the beginning of the electoral campaign and the preemptive movement for parliamentary elections to be held in 2027.
Details of the proposals are available in release on the official website of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister. The changes are expected to come into force from 2027.
