The last days in Krakow brought a series of shocking events. The police are conducting two major investigations – one concerning the death of two men in the dormitory, the second violent attack on a woman in the park and the discovery of the corpse of an older woman in the perpetrator's apartment. These are the latest findings.
Kraków has two dramatic cases: a mysterious crime in the dormitory at Reymonta Street and an attack on the doctor in the park, after which his mother's body was found in the attacker's apartment. The police and the D.A. are working to explain both tragedies.
Two bodies in a dorm – suspected extended suicide
On Wednesday around 1:30 p.m., one of the dormitories at Reymonta Street discovered the bodies of two men aged 58. According to previous findings, one of them has been renting a hotel room there for some time. Police suspect that there was a so-called expanded suicide – one of the men was murdered and the other committed suicide. Criminal technicians and prosecutors are working on the scene to secure traces and interview witnesses to confirm or exclude this hypothesis.
Who were the victims?
According to information provided by the police, one of the men was a Ukrainian citizen. Specific circumstances of the tragedy and motives of the perpetrator are being determined. The police do not rule out any version of events, and the investigation is ongoing.
Attacking a doctor in the park and gruesome discovery in the apartment
Friday around noon in Park im. Mark Grechuta had a violent attack on a woman. 48-year-old male attacked a passing woman – according to preliminary information she was supposed to be a doctor, although the prosecution does not rule out that it was an accidental victim. The assailant gagged her mouth and began choking her, accusing her of mistreatment his child. Fortunately, the quick reaction of students and passersby saved the life of a woman – the attacker was overpowered and handed over to the police.
The killer's mother's body
After arresting a man, police searched his apartment in the Rock near Krakow. Another shocking discovery was made there – the body of 79-year-old female attacker's mother was found. There were lacerations to the neck and throat. Investigators suspect she was murdered by her son before the park attack.
What about the investigations?
Both cases are early in the proceedings. The police and the D.A. are analyzing secure tracks, interviewing witnesses and waiting for the autopsy results. In the case of a dormitory, it will be crucial to establish the relationship between victims and confirm the version of extended suicide. Investigators will investigate the unsub's motives and mental state.
