The topic in vitro and pro life movement in Poland raises strong emotions and divisions. At the heart of this debate was Maja Staśko, whose views and actions meet fierce criticism from the Kai Godek Foundation.

Unfortunately, despite many attempts to contact, we failed to get a comment from Ms Mai Staśko
Maja Stasko shares her history with infertility
Maja Staśko, a well-known activist and publicist, has been publicly sharing her infertility and pregnancy losses for several years. Her story concerns the struggle for motherhood, which often remains invisible to others. In a day of loud pro-life disputes, the issue of the loss of children – those unborn ones – becomes particularly important.
They have a "mother of many children" story.
Many netizens, quoting media titles, mockly refer to Maja Stasko as "mother of many children". The interested party herself openly admits that with her partner from almost two years fights for the baby, passing through subsequent in vitro procedures and painful embryo loss. This is over 20 months of waiting, hope and disappointment – emotions that every person who fights infertility knows.
The most common challenges of women fighting for a child:
- Endometriosis or other health problems
- Complicated in vitro procedures
- Public criticism and lack of understanding
- My own grief and frustration
Such experiences lead to reflection: are you not a mother at the time of birth of the hope of a child?
Criticism of pro life actions
Maja Staśko does not avoid harsh words towards the pro life movement. According to her, some activists aim not to protect life but to limit women's freedom and dignity. On social media, she draws attention to hypocrisy – it has happened that people declaring the slogans "for life" used her personal difficulties with motherhood to conduct their own campaigns.
Maja Staśko can be criticized by conservative environments for the "controversy" between her views and the genuine desire for motherhood. However, she believes that caring for life does not exclude the right to difficult emotions and struggle for her own happiness. As he says: "I dream of being pregnant, but I also wish that those who do not want or cannot have children should not be forced into it."
Kai Godek Foundation criticises in vitro and Maja Staśko
I mean, she's a mother of many, but... DEAD.
@majakstasko, left-wing abortion activist, has long reported on Instagram her efforts to have a child through an in vitro procedure. Her observers participate in this process: from euphoria and hope to depression when it failed again – more children die instead of nesting in the uterus. This is the real face of business in vitro: emotional rollercoaster and unethical procedures, resulting in virtually every woman becoming the mother of numerous DEAD children. Even if it is ultimately possible to produce a living infant in this way, on the way, on laboratory glass and throughout the process in vitro, his little siblings die...
Foundation Life and Family, led by Kaja Godek, has been campaigning intensively against in vitro method for years. The organisation shall publicly identify in vitro as "child production by veterinary method", "child trade", "frozen children for years" or "multiple abortion". According to the foundation, this procedure is unethical and carries a threat to human dignity, and children born through it can be stigmatized.
In the foundation materials, there are slogans that suggest that in vitro this "pathology" and that this method should be prohibited or at least devoid of public funding. The Foundation organises billboard social campaigns that, according to many customers, reinforce negative stereotypes for children conceived by this method.
Niektóre shares fundacji mają wymiar personalny, m.in. dyskredytowanie wypowiedzi Staśko dotyczących jej własnych doświadczeń związanych z in vitro. The Foundation tries to undermine her motivation and accuses her of self-promotion at the expense of real help to women and families struggling with infertility.
Maja Staśko comments

The most common arguments of the Kai Godek Foundation against in vitro
Organisations and in vitro supporters, such as Maja Staśko, are accused of blurring ethical boundaries in public debate
In vitro is not a treatment of infertility, but an artificial and often ineffective treatment.
The method is burdened with a "high genetic risk" for children, according to the Foundation's narrative.
The procedure involves ‘freezing and destroying embryos’, which the foundation finds morally unacceptable.
Children conceived in vitro are to be exposed to social and emotional stigmatisation.
Birth of children thanks to the in vitro program in Poland in 2025
According to the latest reports of the Ministry of Health and media reports, from the launch of a government in vitro refund scheme on 1 June 2024 to the end of April 2025:
- Nearly 1,000 children were born through in vitro funding from the state budget.
- By the end of May 2025, the number of newborn children from the program exceeded 950.
- More than 12,000 pregnancies were confirmed in the programme.
- A total of nearly 32,000 pairs were eligible during the first 11 months of operation.
Debate na temat in vitro i wartości pro life w Polsce wywołuje dużo emocji i sporów. Maja Staśko i Fundacja Kai Godek prezentują skrajnie odmienne stanowiska: Staśko broni praw kobiet i wspiera rozwiązania takie jak in vitro, podczas gdy fundacja krytykuje tę metodę i jej zwolenników. Spór dotyczy zarówno światopoglądu, jak i społecznego znaczenia wsparcia dla osób zmagających się z niepłodnością.
