Event Details

The 11-year-old body was discovered on Monday around 3:00 p.m. in the area of Wyspiański Street in Jelenia Góra. According to preliminary police findings, the girl was attacked with a sharp instrument, resulting in multiple injuries, including stabbings. By the time the officers arrived, the victim was already dead. Investigators have treated the case from the very beginning as a homicide, due to apparent signs of violence on the child's body.

District Attorney at Jelenia Góra confirmed that the victim was a student of Elementary School No. 10 in this town. A 12-year-old detained in connection with the tragedy is also a student of the same facility. "We have witnesses who saw a fight"—revealed in conversation with the media, adding that the investigation is in the early stages and that evidence is being collected.

School and community reactions

The principal of Primary School No. 10 in Jelenia Góra expressed a deep shock and sadness over the tragedy. "We are shocked. This is an unimaginable loss to the entire school community," he said in a statement. The school provides psychological support for students and teachers, and lessons have been suspended during the investigation. Parents and residents of Jelenia Góra express disbelief that such a violent act occurred between children of a similar age.

Judicial proceedings

Due to the young age of the suspect, the case will be referred to the family court, which on Tuesday will decide on further steps. The D.A.'s office does not reveal the motive for the attack yet, but highlights that the investigation includes witness interviews and analysis of the evidence at the scene.

Police call on witnesses to contact and ensure that the case is given priority. The tragedy in Jelenia Góra reminds of the need for greater attention to mental problems and conflicts among young people. The local community already organizes support for the victim's family, and the city plans additional prevention activities in schools.
