Mother to jail, child to foster care. Four days later the tragedy and death of the child

Imagine one day the world turns upside down. They come by uniforms, they take the baby, and for a couple of old parking tickets, you end up behind bars. It's not a black crime scene, it's a reality that got one of the families in Poland. The mother went to prison for failing to pay her tickets, her child was taken to a foster home, and after four days, tragedy occurred and the child died.

Mandates, prison, drama

The story sounds like a bad show, but unfortunately it's true. A woman whose identity wasn't revealed had unpaid parking tickets on her conscience. Instead of being able to repay her debt, she went to a prison. Then the social workers entered her house and took the baby. It was an instant decision told by a neighbor who saw the whole situation. Everyone was shocked because no one expected this to happen.

A foster family – a safe haven or a trap?

The baby went to foster care to keep him safe. Unfortunately, after four days of tragedy, the little man died. Details are not yet known, but it is known that the case went to the D.A. This should not have happened, one expert comments. The welfare system is designed to protect children, not put them in additional danger.

A System That Failed

The case echoed widely in the media. Internet users and politicians ask why a woman went to prison for tickets when other enforcement measures could be applied. This is not the first time the system turns out to be heartless – the lawyer from the local clinic notes. Often interventions are too hasty and tragic.

Causes of Little Oscar's Death

There was news in the family that Oskar was about to take a sip – first they talked about a piece of beet, but these were only conjectures that did not find confirmation in official findings. Granny Monika bet that the child could be fed milk and was not placed to reflect, which sometimes leads to serious complications in infants. However, autopsy showed neither mechanical injuries nor oral contents in the airways. The prosecution points to circulatory-respirational or food failure as a probable cause of death, but details are still unknown and the investigation continues towards manslaughter.

The family is waiting for explanations, and every new information only deepens their sense of helplessness.

Mandates and prison – is that really necessary?

In Poland for unpaid parking tickets you can go to jail, but this happens rarely. Usually the execution of debts takes place differently – occupation of wages, blocking of accounts, debt collection. In this case, something went wrong. You could give a woman a chance to pay off, instead of putting her behind bars and picking up a baby.

Mandates, prison, foster care – isn't that too much?

The story of this mother shows how easy it is to fall into the system's trap. Mandates, prison, foster care, all in a few days. Everyone deserves a second chance, especially when it comes to the baby.

The case of a mother who went to prison for parking tickets and her child died in a foster home shook public opinion. This is another example that the system does not always work as it should. We need to change our approach, children and families need support, not more drama.

Comment by the Warsaw Police

With regard to the material presented by Polsat Station in the "Intervention" program: "They took and placed in a foster family. Four days later, there has been a tragedy" we would like to present information which, given the important social interest and public interest, is necessary to explain the role of police officers taking action in this case. At the outset, it should be stressed that the police are acting on the basis and within the law in force, and the welfare of children was the overarching value of our decisions. The basis of police intervention was issued in relation to the mother of children by the District Court for Warsaw Prague-South order to bring in order to serve the sentence of imprisonment. The detention of mothers of children was necessary, legally justified and carried out in accordance with applicable legislation. Due to small children, activities were carried out in such a way as to minimise any negative effects. A mother with two young children, a great-grandmother and two adults were found on the site, who, due to their disability, also required ongoing care from their great-grandmother. This was the result of information given to police officers by householders. The father of the children did not live together with their mother – he is a person wanted by the police and is hiding from the justice system. The mother of the children wouldn't tell us where he was. The great-grandmother informed the intervening police officers that the mother of the children did not pay attention to periodic examination of the children, the three-year-old girl did not speak, and the mother of the child did not try

In this terrible case, we are dealing with a plexus of scandalous abuse of power by several institutions of the state – weak against strong but WITHOUT CONSIDERING the weak: 1. Police While the mere detention in order to enforce the court's judgment is understandable – a decision by one of the officers to call the officials of the "Family Assistance Centre" (CPR/MOPR) is simply a show of force and ruthless abuse of power. Probably to show this family that the police can do absolutely anything to them – even take away little children – and they have no chance. To step on the ground. These police officers should be expelled from the service and be punished with a gratuitous prison sentence. 2. CPR/MOPR officials The decision in a few seconds that the family will not be able to cope with children (which they have been dealing with for years!) is, unfortunately, EVERYDAY – MOPR officials are poorly rewarded, they are not respected – so they compensate themselves for the families they "care for". I've seen it in family courts dozens of times. Wise officials teaching parents and making a decision to pick up children under any pretext. There is generally POGARD for people for whom MOPR is to work – imagine "Strong Together" and what they think about "pathology from Poland B" – many of such people work in the MOPR and take it out on people they despise – because they can show them their Authority. These officials should also go to prison – also to make punishment a warning to others. 3. Prison Service The decision that at the funeral of your child the mother must be handcuffed together, inIn this terrible case, we are dealing with a plexus of scandalous abuse of power by several institutions of the state – weak against strong but WITHOUT CONSIDERING the weak: 1. The information provided to the public by a part of the media and politicians that the cause of imprisonment is "unpaid fines", is false and misleading. The court-martialed punishment involved committing a crime under Article 286 of the Criminal Code, which penalised the crime of fraud. The police ended their activities with the detainee in bringing her to the prison to serve the sentence. The police have no connection to the participation of the child detained in the funeral and the formula in which it was carried out. –@Police_KSP
