No more Messenger.com. From now on chat only via Facebook or mobile app

Meta has just announced the deadline for the liquidation of the independent version of Messenger in the browser. After today (14 April 2026), the messager.com website will cease to exist as an independent place to send messages.

As early as mid-April the entry to well-known address messenger.com will automatically redirect users to facebook.com/messages – that is, the news section built directly into the Facebook portal. There you will continue all the conversations, both on your computer and in your browser.

At the same time, the Meta reminds you that the Messenger app for computers (desktop) has already been disabled. Users who have used messenger.com so far must now move to facebook.com/messages. The interface is virtually identical, so the change is to be as minimal as possible.

People who used Messenger without a Facebook account will still be able to hold calls – but only in a mobile app on their phone. The web version without Facebook will stop working completely.

The change is part of Meta's strategy, which has consistently integrated all its communicators into the main Facebook ecosystem for several years. First the desktop application disappeared (December 2025), now the last independent web version falls.

Users who have saved bookmarks with the address messenger.com should now change them to facebook.com/messages to avoid problems after 14 April. All existing calls and contacts will remain preserved – just log in to a new location and enter the pin again.
