While all eyes in Poland were on Karol Nawrocki, the new President of the Republic of Poland, his wife Marta Nawrocka unexpectedly drew part of the attention. This happened thanks to a thoughtful yet not uncontroversial styling. Her look sparked a stir among both political and fashion commentators. Is it the birth of a new style icon, or yet another scandal?
Pastel Blue, or What Ladies Like Most
For the official part of the inauguration, Marta Nawrocka chose a blue suit . A subtle, classically cut suit consisting of a pencil skirt and a tailored jacket with a high collar. Blue, a deliberate choice, is the colour of safety, elegance and calm, conveying the message of the First Lady’s gentle yet decisive character.
The styling, though minimalist, immediately evoked associations with influential women in politics and fashion. It was compared to Brigitte Macron, Melania Trump, and even Jackie Kennedy. Experts: Elegance with Potential, but Not Without Missteps
Polish stylists were not unanimous in their opinions. Designer Ewa Minge appreciated Nawrocka’s class, but pointed out the jacket’s collar was too high.
I have the impression that the collar of the outfit is too high, and in my opinion it should be shortened by a centimetre so that it does not touch the jawline. In the photos it is visible that it does not allow a hundred percent freedom of movement. Of course, this is not Mrs Marta’s fault, but the construction of the outfit. This architectural design, especially with such a feminine figure and the beautiful bust that the First Lady has, required greater precision, and that is where it fell short. At certain moments the front rises up unintentionally and clearly pulls the sleeve. Overall, however, Mrs Marta looks good, and any comparisons to Melania Trump or Brigitte Macron should not be surprising, because the styling is rooted in trends. The First Lady looks nice, but the coolest accent is her smile – Ewa Minge told the newspaper “Fakt”.
Stylist Ewa Rubasińska‑Ianiro, in turn, described the styling as elegant but lacking flair. In her view, Marta Nawrocka’s outfit bears an uncanny resemblance to Brigitte Macron’s iconic Louis Vuitton ensemble.
An Afternoon Surprise
later that same day, Nawrocka appeared in a second outfit: a white jacket with a beret and wide black trousers. This ensemble stirred more emotions among the public. Although experts stressed that the set was bolder and more individual, there were complaints about it disrupting the silhouette’s proportions.
According to Rubasińska‑Ianiro, a beret paired with such wide trousers looks theatrical. In her view, it is a strong accent, but not for this occasion. Some commentators, however, appreciated the attempt to break away from the formal tone and show a different face of the First Lady, more modern, with a touch of nonchalance.
Hairstyle as a Subtle Message of Strength
Marta Nawrocka’s hairstyle, on the other hand, earned great praise. A classic low chignon with loose strands. Experts considered it a perfect example of a “soft power look” – the subtle communication of strength, calm and competence without vulgarity or ostentation. It is a style often chosen by women in prominent public roles, such as Queen Letizia or Catherine, Princess of Wales.
