There was a shocking family tragedy in New Jersey. 71-year-old Dennis J. Hall was accused of asphyxiating his 40-year-old daughter Devin Jolene-Kaye Hall, who was born a person with disabilities.
The incident happened this morning. June 11, 2026 in Franklin Township (Gloucester County). Around 6:16, Dennis Hall called 911 and informed the dispatcher that his daughter was not breathing. When the officers arrived, the man was to confess to suffocating Devin – both in conversation with the operator and the police.
His wife, Jan Hall, told investigators that her husband had awakened her with words: ‘I strangled Devin. She's dead". The woman initially thought she had misheard. When she realized what had happened, she immediately began her daughter's CPR.
Devin was transported to a hospital where doctors maintained her vital functions for some time. Unfortunately, the next day – June 12, 2026She was disconnected from the apparatus and died. The autopsy confirmed that the cause of death was strangulationand the way of death is classified as Murder.
Who was Devin?
Devin Jolene-Kaye Hall was 40 years old and struggled with disabilities from birth – she was mute and moved in a wheelchair. She needed constant care, but the family emphasized that despite her difficulties she was a warm, mild, and joyful person.
She loved country music (especially Toby Keith), travels (visited 32 states of the USA), Graceland and walks with her mother. Aunt Devin, Jane Cox, spoke of her as a woman who "has never hurt anyone in her life."
Father in custody
Dennis J. Hall, 71-year-old father Devin, lived with his wife and daughter at home on East Avenue. According to his family's record, he has recently struggled with depression and was under psychiatric care.
The man was detained at the scene. Initially, he heard the charge of attempted murder. After Devin died, the charge was changed to Murder first degree. He currently resides in Salem County Jail. The detention session was scheduled for June 23, 2026.
