🇭🇷 Croatia – Adriatic, islands and crystal waters
Croatia stands out among all Mediterranean destinations one feature: you can get here by car. This makes her particularly attractive for families with children, people with a lot of baggage or those who prefer independence from schedules. The Adriatic is particularly clean – the underwater visibility sometimes reaches 30–40 metres, and the rocky beaches hide emerald water with a temperature of up to 27°C.
Where to go in Croatia?
- Split and Dalmatia – an ideal base for the islands of Brač, Hvar and Vis; a historic old town.
- Dubrovnik – one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, popular among couples and fans of "Games of Thrones"; very crowded in the summer.
- Istria – close to the border, cheap apartments, good beaches, Italian influences in the kitchen.
- Islands: Krk, Rab, Pag – more intimate, good for families who prefer peace.
- Plitvice Lakes – UNESCO National Park, necessarily to visit at the crossing.
Croatia by car or plane?
Leaving by car is cheaper with a family of 4 people – no flight and baggage costs, full flexibility. The route from Krakow to Split is about 900 km (8–9 h), from Warsaw a bit more. The disadvantage is fatigue travel and highway charges (Croatian highways are payable). Aviation packages pay mainly in last minute offers or for couples travelling without large baggage.
