🇪🇬 Egypt – Hurghada, Sharm el-Sheikh and Diving in the Red Sea
Egypt is the only destination that offers sun and warm sea for twelve months a year. The Red Sea is considered to be one of the most beautiful in the world for snorkeling and diving – a coral reef near Sharm el-Sheikh and around Hurghada delights with the diversity of underwater life. Additionally, pyramids, Nile and Arabian cuisine create a unique mix of beach-cultural.
Hurghada or Sharm el-Sheikh?
Hurghada is a larger resort, better connected with Poland (more direct flights), with richer hotel and commercial infrastructure. A good option for families and first-class tourists. Sharm el-Sheikh is more exclusive, with better coral reefs just off the beach, but a flight a little longer and more expensive.
When to go to Egypt?
The best months are October-AprilWhen temperatures range between 22 and 30°C – ideal for sightseeing and diving. July and August is hell: up to 42–45°C in the shade, which makes the stay only boils down to the hotel pool. Winter trips (December–February) is a popular option for people fleeing Polish greygas.
Security and formalities
- Poles need a visa to Egypt – you can buy it online (e-visa) or on site at the airport (approx. 25 USD).
- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issues regular travel recommendations – it is worth checking the current status before booking.
- Drinking tap water is prohibited – buy bottled only.
- Negotiating prices on the bazaars is the norm, as are tips (baksheesh) for each service.
