The Voting for the Youth Word of the Year 2025 has begun. Check the Final List of Words

The plebiscite Youth Word of the Year is not only fun but also a way to document the evolution of language. In previous editions the words such as "sigma" (2024), "rel" or "dzban" were triumphant, which were permanently put into common use. In 2025, the final list is full of loans from English, neologisms from TikToka and funny hybrids that reflect the world of social media, memes and everyday youth talks.

Final List of Words – What Do They Mean and Where Did They Get From?

Here is a complete list of 15 finalists, ranked alphabetically, along with definitions and examples of usage. Each word was selected on the basis of the popularity of reports and compliance with plebiscite regulations. See how many you already know!

  • 6 7 (six seven) – a numerical idiom popular on TikTok, means excitement, weirdness or something "unsticked". Example: "This video is totally 6 7!"
  • brainrot – the state of over-situation with online content; "brain rot" from watching memes and viralas. Example: "I have a brainrot after a day on TikTok."
  • bro – short for "brother", which is simply "buddy", "friend". Example: "Hey bro, how's it going?"
  • fr – from English for real – really, seriously; often used confirmation in conversations. Example: "Fr? I don't believe!"
  • freaky – something strange, eccentric, above normal; used positively and ironically. Example: "This style is freaky, but I like it."
  • GOAT – "Greatest Of All Time" – someone absolutely best, icon, role model. Example: "Messi is GOAT football."
  • class – statement of approval, praise. "This is class!" means as much as "great", "perfect". Example: "Your drawing is pure class!"
  • lowkey – quietly, discreetly, without publicity; loan from English. Example: "Lowkey likes this show."
  • OKPA – a new way of saying goodbye, a combination of "OK" and "pa"; a funny, ironic phrase. Example: "OKPA, see you tomorrow!"
  • skibidi – absurd, catchy word from TikTok; it is difficult to define it, but young people know when to use it. It can mean something cool, strange, bad or be used without specific meaning. Example: "This is the skibidi level!"
  • slay – to look great, to do something great, "to sweep." Example: "Slay queen, this dress is gorgeous!"
  • estimate – acknowledgment, respect, often used unambiguously: "The estimation for this!" Example: "The assurance of help!"
  • Claw/ Claw – to fool around, do something stylish or complex; neologism with a lot of humor. Example: "Stop clutching because everyone is watching!"
  • tuff – something stylish, impressive, strong in the word (from "tough"). Example: "These shoes are tuff!"
  • twin – someone who is very similar to us – mentally, visually or life-like; twin vibe. Example: "We are twin, we think the same!"

These words show how the language of young people mixes English loans with Polish neologisms, often inspired by platforms such as TikTok or Instagram. Jurors emphasize that the plebiscite does not evaluate the "language correctness" but the creativity and popularity.
