Imagine putting your head in a metal cage to overcome addiction. In 2013, a Turk went all the way – his wife opened bars only for meals.
Beginnings of Desperate Decision
Ibrahim Yucel of Turkey smoked 2 packs a day for years. Nothing worked: patches, rubber, hypnosis – everything failed. He finally came up with an extreme plan: a metal head cage, inspired by car helmets.
My wife agreed to help. She closed the bars on May 8, 2013. She kept the key with her. Ahmet wanted to break up with nicotine for good.
His father’s death of lung cancer motivated him to take this drastic step.
How the cage worked – shocking details
- The wife opened for breakfast, lunch and dinner – max 30 minutes.
- The rest of the day? Head in a trap, hands free, but no chance of smoking.
- After a week the desire for inflammation weakened
Effectiveness and risk of such a method
Ibrahim quit smoking permanently. No recurrences over the years, as he claimed in interviews for Turkish portals.
Doctors from the WHO emphasize: extreme methods harm psyche. Risk? Isolation, frustration, even depression.
