Eric Dane died. A popular American actor, primarily known for his roles in the series "Churdzy" and "Euphoria", died at the age of 53 after fighting ALS.
The actor's family confirmed the information in a Thursday statement. "We share with a heavy heart that Eric left yesterday after a brave fight with ALS. He spent his last days surrounded by his loved ones. He was a loving father and a wonderful man who never lost his sense of humor" – we read in the release.
Eric Dane won the hearts of millions of viewers with the role of Dr. Mark Sloan in the series "Grey's Anatomy" (in Poland broadcast as "Churds"). His character "McSteamy" became one of the icons of the entire series and brought him star status worldwide. In later years, the actor showed a completely different side of talent, impersonating the controversial and complex character of Cal Jacobs in the loud HBO series "Euphoria".
Diagnosis of lateral sclerosis Data revealed publicly in April 2025. Despite his progressive illness, he sought to remain as active and family-friendly as possible while engaging in ALS research.
Born November 9, 1972 in San Francisco, Dane began his career in the late 1990s and 2000s. He appeared in the series "Charmed", "The Hospital of Good Hope" and films such as "X-Men: Last Bastion" and "Burlesque". However, it was only "The Last Ship" that brought him a wide recognition, and true fame – "Churds" and "Euphoria".
The news of his death is coming from all sides of Hollywood. Ellen Pompeo, his screen partner from "Surgeons," wrote a moving entry: "McSteamy... I have no words. Thank you for all your laughter and friendship. We're gonna miss you so much." Zendaya and the creators of "The Euphoria" also expressed deep sadness.
Eric Dane left two daughters behind.
