A terrible accident at one of the main junctions in Płock. On Thursday, May 28, 2026, a 12-year-old cyclist was hit by a truck. Despite the rapid intervention of the emergency services, the girl's life failed to be saved.
The event occurred at the intersection of Piłsudski Avenue and Dworcowa Street. A 12-year-old girl rode her bike after a prescribed bike ride. At the same time, a 54-year-old Daf truck driver was doing a right-turn maneuver and most likely did not notice the child.
The girl was hit with a lot of force. An ambulance was called immediately. Paramedics transported an unconscious 12-year-old girl to a hospital, where she was fought for her life for a while. Unfortunately, the injuries were too severe – the child died.
The driver was sober.
Police quickly determined that a 54-year-old man was sober (a breathalysed test gave a negative result) and had the required power to drive a truck. The site was inspected, traces were secured, and photographic and planometric documentation was prepared under the supervision of the prosecution.
The Dworcowa Street was blocked for several hours, causing major traffic obstructions.
Details of the accident are still determined by investigators. For now, the driver of the truck has not been charged – everything depends on the final results of the investigation and expert opinions.
This is another tragic death of a child on the road in Poland this year. The matter is filled with great sadness and agitation among the inhabitants of Płock.
