In a world of politics where scandals explode like firecrackers, Donald Trump once again shows that he does not like to play defensive games. Today (14 November 2025), on his platform Truth Social, the President published a post in which he accuses Democrats of using Epstein's "fraud" to distract attention from their own failures, including the "catastrophic shutdown". In response, he announces that he will ask Attorney General Pam Bondi, the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the FBI to investigate Jeffrey Epstein's relationship with prominent Democrats and financial institutions. "This is another Russia-style scam, Russia, Russia, with all the arrows pointing to Democrats," Trump wrote. Is it a masterful counterattack or desperate deflation? Let's take a closer look.
Now that the Democrats are taking advantage of the Epstein scandal involving Democrats, not Republicans, to divert attention from catastrophic government closure and all other failures, I will appeal to the Attorney General Pam Bondi and the Justice Department, along with our great patriots from the FBI, to investigate the involvement of Jeffrey Epstein and his connections with Bill Clinton, Larry Summers, Reid Hoffman, J.P. Morgan, Chase and many other people and institutions to determine what happened between them and him. This is another "Russia, Russia, Russia" issue where all the arrows point to Democrats. The documents show that these men and many others spent much of their lives with Epstein and on his "island". Keep up with it!!! – President Donald Trump at Truth Social
Context of the affair: From friendship to accusations
Jeffrey Epstein, who died in 2019, a financier accused of trafficking in human beings and sexual exploitation of minors, has been a symbol of the dark ties of the elite for years. His "island" – Little St. James in the Virgin Islands – became synonymous with mysterious meetings of rich and influential. Trump, who once called Epstein a "great guy," broke off his contacts with him after the 2008 scandal. However, recent e-mails from the Congress investigation suggest Trump may have known about Epstein's crimes earlier than he admits. Democrats, including Congress, are pushing for full disclosure of Epstein's file, which Trump describes as "fraud" aimed at Republicans.
In his post Trump targets specific individuals and institutions: former President Bill Clinton, economist Larry Summers (obama advisor), billionaire Reid Hoffman (co-founder LinkedIn and Democratic donor) and banks JP Morgan and Chase. "Records show that these men and many others have spent large parts of their lives with Epstein and on his 'island'," said Trump, ending with the promise: "Stay tuned!!!". According to sources, such as NBC News, Trump intends to direct the investigation directly to DOJ, which could be a response to the pressure from Democrats in Congress.
Trump's post quickly spread across the net, triggering a wave of comments. On platform X (formerly Twitter), the president’s supporters celebrate: "Someone will! Democrats hid it for years." However, critics see this as a failure: "Trump, who knew Epstein personally, now wants to study everyone else?".
The mainstream media, like the CNN and the New York Times, describes it as retaliation after the House of Representatives' Supervisory Board has revealed its emails. "Trump is getting deeper and deeper into Epstein's affair," CNN analyses. Al Jazeera emphasizes Republican resistance in Congress against full disclosure of files. Deadline quotes Trump, who disciplines "weak Republicans" for supporting disclosure.
